Ashiaro    

    The ashiaro is a wooden template worn on the sole of a ninja's Tabi.  The template is usually of an animals footprint.  Sometimes the ashiaro is made to look like the footprint of a child.  A Samurai would not considers a child any threat and would not track the footprints. This makes it nearly impossible to track a ninja's footprints.

Kaginawa

    The kaginawa is a grappling hook that has about 15 feet of rope attached to it.  It is used to scale large walls, trees or other obstacles.

Metsubishi

    The Metsubishi is a mixture of sand, tiny metal filings and pepper stored in a paper bag, bamboo shoot, or egg shell.  When thrown into their opponents face, it could temporarily or permanently blind them.  The egg shell and paper bag filled with it would be thrown and break on impact.  The bamboo shoot would be sealed, them manually opened and thrown.

Shinobi Bune

    The Shinobi Bune is a small raft that the ninja carries on his back.  Jars and bamboo shoots are carried on the ninja's back.  When he comes to a crossing, he ties the jars to the bottom of a bamboo raft which must be tied together.  The jars keep the ninja afloat as he pushes himself along with a spare piece of bamboo.

Ashiko 

    These are strips of metal with spikes on them that are attached to the ninja's tabis.  They are used to gain better traction on uneven or wet surfaces.  They are allot like football cleats that are used today.  They can also be used to give deadly kick.

Smoke Bomb

    Smoke bombs are used for a distraction to an unseen escape.  The ninja would ignite the smoke bomb and create a smoke screen so that the opponent could not see where they go.

Mizu Gumo

    The mizu gumo was a water crossing device.  It was stepped into like shorts or a climbing harness and had small air pockets to keep the ninja afloat.

Shikoro

    The shikoro is a small saw-type tool that the ninja would use to cut a small whole in a wall through which he could spy through.

These are a few of the different ways to say ninja in Japanese:

Ninja, Iga-no Mono, Kakimono Kiki, Kanja, Kaga Mono, Mitsu Mono, Oniwaban, Toppa, Suppa, Yuutei, Kunochi*.
